Why a static calendar QR never expires
Many “event QR” tools create a dynamic code: the printed square points at a short URL on their servers. When the trial ends, the scan fails—even though your meetup is still on the calendar.
A static calendar QR is different. The iCalendar payload (BEGIN:VCALENDAR … BEGIN:VEVENT …) is encoded inside the image. After you print or save it:
- No vendor account is required to keep it working.
- No subscription renewal can turn it off.
- There is no short link that can expire or change owners.
That makes static event QRs a good fit for wedding programs, conference badges, restaurant tasting nights, and café pop-ups—alongside a wedding QR guide or café table tent.
Test on iPhone and Android before you print
iPhone: Camera often recognizes a VEVENT and offers “Add to Calendar.” Confirm title, time, and location look right.
Android: Behavior varies by Camera / Lens / third-party scanner. Some open the ICS; others show raw text. Always test the exact phone models your guests use.
Print checklist: quiet zone intact · high contrast · one iPhone and one Android scan · optional .ics download as a backup share.
FAQ
Does a calendar event QR code expire?
A static calendar QR does not expire: the VEVENT lives in the image. Codes that stop after a free trial were usually dynamic redirects. See QR codes that never expire.
Will Apple, Google, and Outlook calendars open the event?
iOS Camera support for VEVENT is generally strong. Android and desktop scanners differ. Print only after you have tested on at least one iPhone and one Android device.
Is this calendar QR generator free?
Yes. PNG, SVG, Copy ICS, and Download .ics—no signup, no watermark, no “trial expires.”
Can I make an all-day event?
Yes. Check All-day. Timed events need a start time; end defaults to one hour later if blank.
Is my event data uploaded?
No. Generation is client-side, same as our WiFi and vCard tools.
