How mailto QR codes work
Most camera apps recognize a mailto: payload and open the default mail app with the recipient filled in. Optional subject and body query parameters (RFC 6068) prefill the draft. The user still taps Send—scanning never auto-sends.
Subject and body are percent-encoded; line breaks become %0A. Very long bodies make the QR denser and harder to scan when printed small.
FAQ
What is an email (mailto) QR code?
A QR that encodes a mailto URI so a device can open a new email draft with a recipient and optional subject/body after the user confirms send.
Does scanning auto-send the email?
No. It only opens a draft. The user must review and send.
Does this email QR expire?
A static mailto QR does not expire because of a generator trial—the payload lives in the image. Mail apps still control how mailto opens.
Is this an official Gmail, Outlook, or Apple Mail tool?
No. QRStatic is not affiliated with any email client or provider.
Can I use this for spam?
Only for lawful, opt-in contact. Do not use for spam or unsolicited marketing.
Is my address uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser.
