How tel: QR codes work
Most camera apps recognize a tel:+countrycode… payload (RFC 3966) and open the phone dialer with the number filled in. On nearly all devices the user still taps Call—scanning does not place the call by itself.
This tool builds a short static payload, so the QR stays readable when printed small. It is not a contact card: for name + email + phone together, use the vCard QR generator.
FAQ
What is a phone call (tel:) QR code?
A QR that encodes a tel: URI so a device can open the dialer with a number ready after the user confirms the call.
Does scanning auto-dial the number?
Usually no. Most phones open the dialer (or a confirm prompt) with the number filled in. The user must tap Call.
Is this the same as a vCard / contact QR?
No. This page only encodes a dialable number. For a full contact card, use the vCard QR generator.
Does this phone QR expire?
A static tel: QR does not expire because of a generator trial—the payload lives in the image. Dialers still control how tel: opens.
Should I encode an extension?
No. Print the extension as a note beside the QR. Comma, semicolon, and ;ext= dialing is unreliable across camera apps and dialers.
Is this an official carrier or phone-maker tool?
No. QRStatic is not affiliated with any mobile carrier or device manufacturer.
Can I use this for harassment or spam calls?
Only for lawful, opt-in business or customer-service contact. Do not use for harassment, robocalls, or unsolicited marketing.
Is my number uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser.
